WHERE IS TIME FOR ME?

So many of my clients ask, "How can I be more balanced? There is not enough time in the day for me to take care of myself."
My first question to each of the individuals is: "WHAT IS YOUR VISION? IF YOU COULD HAVE TOTAL BALANCE AND SET ASIDE TIME JUST FOR YOU DURING THE DAY, WHAT WOULD THAT LOOK LIKE?" Then I sit back and wait....knowing the mind is processing.
Many times it is as simple as wanting to read a few chapters of a book a day, reading the newspaper, taking a walk, having quiet time, going to the gym, eating better...the list goes on.

The brainstorming begins...when 3 ideas have been selected, I ask them to choose ONE.
With that one idea, we go through this process:

1. how will you fit this into your day?
2. what would it look like if you did _____ daily?
3. what would be the benefits of you doing this?
4. how will you commit to following through?
5. what was the struggle for you in the past when this was not accomplished?
6. what will be different this time?
7. how will you be accountable?
8. knowing your strength as being x,y,z, how can you it to best serve you?

Then the SMART acronym comes into play.
The goals must be S-simple; M-measurable; A-attainable; R-realistic; T-time-oriented
Too many times our goals are too huge, overwhelming and nothing gets done. So start small.
If a goal is to sit quietly and read the newspaper for 1 hour...is that being realistic when you only can allow for 1/2 hour? If you had only 15 minutes, how would you feel with that? If you wanted to take a walk, your goal is 5 times a week, to make it realistic and attainable...why not start with 3 times a week. The whole point of this process is to be successful!
Start small and gain the success, motivation and be inspired.
Take the time to chart your own course...
ONE STEP AT A TIME.

DON'T JUST LIVE THE LIFE YOU'VE BEEN GIVEN, MAKE THE LIFE YOU WANT.
